rugs from Afghanistan.

We have always admired the beauty and utility of rugs produced in Afghanistan. They reflect an ancient culture and its way of life.

In recent times, while other primary sources of hand-knotted rugs have continued to replicate traditional designs, innovative women in Afghanistan have begun to re-interpret the designs from their regions using brighter colours. In some instances they use designs from other Central Asian cultures and present them in a fresh and modern way.

Our collection reflects this new wave of innovation.

Art of Rugs is pleased to be able to present these beautiful rugs. They are hand-knotted or hand-woven in local hand spun wool and all dyes are natural.

They are sourced from a family associated with the production of rugs in Afghanistan for more than forty years.

Great care is taken to ensure that each rug is of the highest quality and that the production process is free of exploitative practices.
