CARE AND MAINTENANCE TIPS

Wool resists staining and moisture absorption through its natural lanolin content but it is best to follow a simple maintenance procedure to retain its pristine appearance.

• Vacuum regularly regularly but avoid using a beater head.
• Turn the rug 180 degrees a couple of times a year, If it is in sunlight for part of the day, best to turn it more regularly to maintain uniformity of appearance.
• If a small amount of liquid is dropped on the rug, quickly mop it up with an unprinted absorbent paper or a white cotton cloth. Then dab the area with a moist unprinted cotton cloth ensuring that you don’t rub with a circular motion. We have found that a weak solution of water and a wool wash dabbed lightly on the soiled area is helpful in removing the stain.
• If the stain doesn’t respond, we recommend contacting a professional rug cleaner. Be cautious about using any company that offers carpet cleaning. Best to seek out a professional company with expertise in rug cleaning.
• If the surrounding hard flooring is cleaned with a cleaning agent, ensure that the hard flooring is given a rinse with clean water to avoid chemicals transferring to the rug.
• Before cleaning glass tables with a glass leaning agent, best to cover the rug in the immediate area to avoid any possible staining.
• Avoid walking on the rug with rubber soled shoes as they may shorten the life of the carpet. Rubber soles act like an eraser and tear at the threads.
• If these steps are followed the rug should retain its appearance for many years.
